About Acupuncture

When performed correctly by a licensed professional, acupuncture should not be painful. You may feel a slight sensation when the needle is inserted, often described as a small pinch or tingling. Most patients find the treatment relaxing and may even fall asleep during sessions. Marci uses the finest, sterile needles and has over 30 years of experience ensuring patient comfort.

Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body to encourage the natural flow of energy (called “Qi”) through pathways called meridians. From a Western medicine perspective, acupuncture stimulates the nervous system, releases endorphins (natural pain relievers), and improves circulation. This helps reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and promote the body’s natural healing processes.

Acupuncture is effective for a wide range of conditions including: – Chronic pain (back, neck, joints) – Headaches and migraines – Stress and anxiety – Digestive issues – Sleep disorders – Arthritis and fibromyalgia – Addiction recovery support – Women’s health issues – Respiratory problems – And many other conditions

The number of treatments varies depending on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and your overall health. Acute conditions may improve in 1-3 treatments, while chronic conditions typically require 6-12 treatments for lasting results. During your initial consultation, Marci will discuss a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and goals.

Absolutely! We use only single-use, sterile, disposable needles that are opened fresh for each patient. All needles are safely disposed of in medical waste containers immediately after use. Treatment Specifics

Ear (auricular) acupuncture treats the whole body through points on the ear, which contains a complete map of the body. It’s particularly effective for addiction recovery, anxiety, and mental/emotional concerns. Body acupuncture uses points throughout the body and is excellent for pain, digestive issues, and general wellness. Both can be used together for comprehensive treatment.

These are traditional healing tools used with Tui Na massage: – Cupping: Glass cups create suction to increase circulation and release muscle tension – Gua Sha: A smooth tool used to gently scrape the skin, improving blood flow and reducing inflammation – Jade Rollers: Smooth jade stones used for gentle massage, particularly effective for facial tension and circulation All techniques are gentle and therapeutic, designed to enhance your healing experience.

You may have temporary circular marks from cupping or linear marks from gua sha. These are not bruises but indicate that stagnant blood and toxins are being drawn to the surface for elimination. Marks typically fade within 2-5 days and are generally not painful. Many patients see these marks as a sign that the treatment is working effectively.
